Transcription of braille books
This unit produces text books and other reading materials is in braille format and distributing the same to blind persons free of cost. The text books range from Std 1 to Post graduation.
Four visually impaired persons are employed for the task of transcription, editing, printing, binding and dispatching.
Transcriptions of braille books is carried out using high-tech braille embosser.
GnanaJyothi trust has set up a computer training facility for the blind. This unit provides free basic and advanced training in computer application. Till date, over 40 blind persons have undergone the training and a majority of them are employed in government and private sectors.
The trust has set up different hostels for blind boys and girls. The Hostel for blind boys which is set up at Syndicate bank colony, Magadi Main Road, Bangalore-79. Provides accommodation for 20 blind students. Here, the students are provided with free catering and lodging facilities along with their requisite study materials in braille and audio format.
The Hostel for Blind Girls is located in Sampige Layout, No 3, 5th cross, Pattgarpalya Main Road, Bangalore-40.
40 Blind girls are provided free accommodation, catering and lodging facilities. These students go the different colleges in the city and are pursuing various academic courses.
